This position will have responsibility for the medication use process in the 7 specialty and retail pharmacy locations across the health system. Essential functions required are as follows:
- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Builds community and teamwork both inside and outside of the department to create and maintain a positive work environment.
- Mentors staff members in the areas of responsibility to facilitate and reinforce learning.
- Maintains responsibility for quality of patient care, utilization, quantity, and cost of resources.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates programs to ensure that optimal, high quality pharmaceutical care is provided.
- Fulfills the roles of innovator, leader, and facilitator in areas of responsibility to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Fulfills a commitment to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Participates in planning processes by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
This individual will have 3 direct reports (two clinical coordinators and one lead technician) and overall reporting responsibility for 20-30 FTE (pharmacists, technicians and billing analysts). In addition to the core responsibilities of a manager, this individual will be responsible for execution of strategic initiatives as assigned by Assistant Director. Examples include: dispensing system optimization, specialty pharmacy accreditation, specialty care pathway design, workspace renovation, workspace design, and core business planning.
It will be imperative that this individual is a self-starter who can independently assess a given situation and apply the principles of situational leadership when appropriate. Job Summary: Manages the daily operations of systems within in the Department of Pharmacy under the general direction of an Assistant Director of Pharmacy.
Education / Experience: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree. Advanced business degree and completion of a Residency program are preferred. 2-4 years pharmacy management experience is preferred.
Reports To: Assistant Director of Pharmacy
Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Active registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy required.
1.Leads people and manages systems.
2. Guides and ensures the completion of operational improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
3.Mentors coordinators and staff members in the areas of responsibility to facilitate and reinforce learning.
4.Plans, implements, and evaluates programs to ensure that optimal, high quality pharmaceutical care is provided.
5.Develops and ensures the implementation of strategic initiatives.
6.Achieves maximum utilization, efficiency, performance and safety of processes within the systems of responsibility.
7.Ensures systems are performing according to scorecard metrics.
8.Integrates pharmacy operational systems across functional teams and work areas within the department
