Job Code/Title: 6696/Senior Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary: Under direct supervision of the Medical Physician, coordinate and perform the appropriate elements of administrative and clinical operations within the scope of the Certified Medical Assistant's training.

Education/Experience:

Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

One year experience working in a large clinical area as a CMA.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:

Successful completion of the American Association of Medical Assistants Certification. Maintain current AAMA certification.

Essential Functions:

1. Coordinate the daily clinical operations, patient flow, and communication for the PM&R Clinics at CompRehab. Includes ensuring that patients are scheduled appropriately (with preauthorizations as needed) for optimal service delivery; that messages are answered or triaged appropriately; and all forms are routed, completed, and submitted consistent with ambulatory standards.

2. Setup, clean, restock, and prepare clinic module.

3. Assist medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedure to include performing patient history interview to obtain personal data and chief complaint, documentation for records, and vital signs. Perform telephone and in-person screening

4. Collect and process specimens (Urine Drug Screens) and diagnostic testing, as needed.

5. Prepare and administer oral and parenteral medications as directed by Physician. Call in prescriptions as directed. Maintain medication and immunization records.

6. Manage infection control using aseptic techniques, sanitization, chemical disinfection, surgical asepsis, and correctly handling of biohazardous materials.

7. Serve as the liaison and coordinator for developing/maintaining WakeOne preference lists and documentation templates for the PM&R providers.

8. Coordinate scheduling changes and waitlist management to ensure optimal utilization of provider schedules and timely access for patients.

9. Cross train, as needed, to ensure competency to provide coverage at Brookstown Pain Clinics or other PM&R clinic locations.

10. Maintain current knowledge and application of nutrition and first aid principles.

Coordinate the work of Medical Assistants in a large clinic to ensure coverage of clinics.

Education/Experience:
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a large clinical area as a CMA.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:
Successful completion of the American Association of Medical Assistants Certification. Maintain current AAMA certification.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversee the Certified and Registered Medical Assistants in a large clinic area. Coordinate the hiring process, evaluate performance, coordinate schedules, approve time and attendance, and represent the Medical Assistants in departmental meetings.
2. Setup, clean, restock, and prepare examination rooms. Prepare equipment, autoclave, sterilizer, and maintain treatment area
3. Assist medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedure to include performing patient history interview to obtain personal data and chief complaint, documentation for records, and vital signs. Perform telephone and in-person screening
4. Collect and process specimens and diagnostic testing. Perform EKGs, hearing tests, vision tests, and pulmonary tests (peak flow and pulse-ox).
5. Prepare and administer oral and parenteral medications as directed by Physician. Call in prescriptions as directed. Maintain medication and immunization records.
6. Manage infection control using aseptic techniques, sanitization, chemical disinfection, surgical asepsis, and correctly handling biohazardous materials.
7. Perform various clerical duties such as answering the phone, data entry, filing charts, transcription, charge slips, and processing insurance forms. Maintain office supplies, facilities, and equipment.
8. Maintain current knowledge and application of nutrition and first aid principles.
