Job Summary:

Manage the relationship between OD and assigned groups of internal clients. Design and deliver training to audiences at all levels of the organization. Manage OD / HR focused projects. Design and deliver OD interventions to WFUBMC management, teams, and employees. Utilize experience and education to support department director where appropriate and provide guidance and mentoring to internal consultants where appropriate.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Training and Development, Organizational Development, Human Resource Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Performance Improvement, Communications, or related fields.

Experience:

  • With Master's degree, a minimum of 5 years of business experience with 3 years of OD related experience
  • With Bachelor's degree, a minimum 7 years business experience with 3 years OD related experience

Primary Accountabilities:

1. Provide “Product Management” for assigned OD products (e.g., training courses, survey tools, coaching services, etc.)

  • Conduct needs assessment to determine need and priority for the assigned product/service
  • Make “build vs. buy” recommendations to develop and/or deliver the product/service
  • Where applicable, determine best external vendor(s), contract for the purchase of the product/service, and manage the relationship with that vendor
  • Where applicable, manage the design and development of internally generated product/services
  • Plan for the deployment of the product/service, including marketing, delivery schedule, and budget requirements
  • Determine the internal and external resources to deliver the product/service (trainers) and ensure that they are properly certified to deliver the product/service
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the product/service and make changes accordingly

2. Manage projects for Human Resources and Organizational Development functions

  • Work with HR leadership to determine priority and scope of proposed projects
  • Develop project plan for approved projects which includes objectives, project team members, budget, timeline, milestones, communications plan, metrics and any additional responsibilities
  • Execute projects using internal and external resources
  • Measure results and adjust as required to achieve project goals
  • Communicate results as appropriate to employees and/or management
  • Upgrade professional competencies with certifications, as needed, for specific interventions

3. Consult with internal managers and their teams to improve performance and resolve issues

  • Use consulting model to manage consulting engagements with internal clients
  • Provide initial needs assessments for internal clients or departmental, divisional, and/or organizational issues
  • Contract with internal clients to determine outcomes, participants, timeframes, budgets, expectations, accountability, and confidentiality
  • Gather organizational data using appropriate means
  • Conduct activities in a manner which displays an awareness of the formal and informal chains of command and the culture and politics of the organization
  • Provide feedback to internal clients in professional manner
  • Work with clients to produce and implement organizational, divisional, and/or departmental action plans and/or interventions; measure and adjust plans, as needed
  • Provide follow-up to foster client accountability
  • Maintain data to evaluate effectiveness of actions and their outcomes
  • Plan an exit strategy
  • Seek and solicit collaboration with other members of HR community, especially HR Business Partners and Employee Assistance Program, in relation to necessary interventions for managers, departments, or divisions

4. Deliver training courses to potentially all levels of employees

  • On a rotating basis and/or back-up , conduct the New Employee Orientation program
  • Obtain appropriate certification for courses to be delivered
  • Maintain effectiveness of delivery by monitoring participant evaluations and receiving peer feedback

5. Adheres to organizational standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.

  • Follow WFUBMC policies and procedures
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the overall quality of services provided by Enterprise Learning and Development
  • Assume responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures and completing all required compliance and/or safety training
  • Follow organizational-wide standards for client service

6. Enhance departmental functioning and reputation

  • Provide input in the development of the departmental mission statement, policies, budget, capital equipment requests, procedures, and systems
  • Upgrade professional competencies
  • Conduct activities in a manner which displays an awareness of the formal and informal chains of command and the culture and politics of the organization

7. Manage relationship with internal customers

  • Build / maintain relationships with members of department and other members of HR community, especially Employee Relations and Employee Assistance Program.
  • Provide initial needs assessment for internal customers on organizational issues
  • Determine and provide best resources to address issues
