Job Summary: The registered nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patient. Provides direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.
Education / Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BCLS required. At least one year operating room experience or participation in the post-graduate program. Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an operating room or five years or more.
Reports To: OR Manager/Clinical Coordinator
Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Current licensures to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care.
Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers and facility.
Ensures complete, accurate and timely computerized communication of patient information.
Demonstrates cost containment activities.
Demonstrates ability to work with others to achieve a common goal.
Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development.
Skills and Qualifications:
Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and listening skills).
Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care.
Basic computer skills preferred.
