Job Summary: This position renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients of all ages. The incumbent provides direct or indirect patient care using the nursing process. The Holding Room Nurse prepares patients for surgery both physically and psychologically.
Education / Experience: Graduate from an accredited School of nursing. One year acute care experience preferred, Refresher courses required for nurses out of practice in an acute care setting for five years or more

Meets assigned patient's physical and psychosocial needs by using and recording the nursing process.
Ensures a secure and safe patient environment by practicing in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
Maintains the Holding Room with required supplies and checked equipment to be ready for normal daily workload and emergencies.
Maintains an active involvement in issues of cost containment to help decrease the cost of healthcare.
Promotes the smooth flow of daily OR schedule.

Job Summary: The registered nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patient. Provides direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.
Education / Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. At least one year Operating Room experience or participation in the post-graduate program required. Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an Operating Room or five years or more.
Reports To: Clinical Coordinator
Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Current licensures to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina, CNOR preferred, BCLS required.
1. Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care.
2. Ensures complete, accurate and timely computerized communication of patient information.
3. Demonstrates cost containment activities.
4. Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
5. Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development.
