Works as a member of the Pediatric Satellite Team to provide pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients. Provides drug distribution services to the patients served and assists in managing the activities of satellite pharmacy technicians. Serves as a drug information resource for patients, family members, nurses and medical staff. Maintains skills and knowledge by attending required in services and skills development classes and takes the annual pharmaceutical care exam. Will be cross-trained to other areas as needed. Participates in quality improvement and strategic planning activities which will promote optimal patient care, teamwork, and the key values.
1st / 2nd shift rotation
Brenner Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated pediatric clinical pharmacist to provide direct patient care services for our 133bed children's hospital. As one of the most outstanding patient care, teaching and research facilities in the nation, Brenner Children's Hospital (housed in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center) is committed to the special health care needs of children and adolescents. This position offers many outstanding opportunities for provision of patient care and ongoing professional development. Direct patient care activities include participating in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, as well as providing pediatric pharmacy dispensing services. Other opportunities include precepting both pharmacy students and residents, as well as educating medical residents and ancillary staff regarding appropriate therapeutic treatment options for pediatric patients.
A Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Pediatric PGY2 Residency (or equivalent experience) is preferred. Brenner Children's Hospital is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Specialty training or equivalent experience in Pediatrics preferred. Good attendance and performance records required. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Must be committed to excellent customer service. Must possess and demonstrate commitment to teamwork. Must be self-motivated, have good decision-making, problem-solving and supervisory skills. Must demonstrate ability to cope with periods of peak work activity.
