Shadowing and Observation

Shadowing is allowed for one shift up to 12 hours. In order to shadow, observe or do clinical hours, you must have a departmental sponsor in the discipline you need. Contact the department of interest and see if they can support your educational requirements.  This sponsor will work with HR to coordinate your onboarding paperwork and will be responsible for you while you are with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

It is important that you complete all of the following information. Please allow two weeks to complete the onboarding process. It is important to complete and submit the documents to your sponsoring department as soon as possible. You will receive a confirmation email once you have met all of the following requirements clearing you to begin. You may not start unless you receive this confirmation email.

Paid internships will be posted on the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Careers website. A selection process will follow.

For unpaid internships to receive college course credit, students should contact the Medical Center department that fits the area of interest to inquire about possible internship opportunities. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the internship experience at WFBMC supports the necessary educational requirements. The departmental sponsor will work with Human Resources to coordinate your onboarding paperwork and will be responsible for you during your Medical Center experience.
