Exercise & Fitness

The Key to Success

The key to success with any exercise program is finding an exercise you enjoy and scheduling regular exercise sessions. The following questions may help:

  • Do you prefer to exercise alone or with other people?
  • Do you prefer to exercise outdoors, at home or in a gym?
  • How much money are you willing to spend on equipment or facilities?
  • When can you best fit activity into your schedule?

Once you have planned your exercise, build up your level of activity slowly over the next few weeks.

Dress Appropriately

  • In cold weather, wear layers so that you can remove a layer if you get too warm.
  • In summer, wear light loose fitting clothing exercise earlier in the morning or in the evening.

Stay Hydrated

Always drink plenty of water and watch for the signs of heat stroke:

  • Feeling dizzy, weak, lightheaded, and/or excessively tired
  • Sweating stops
  • Body temperatures become excessively high

Remember, almost anyone can safely exercise and reap the benefits with a little planning and by finding types of exercise you can enjoy for a lifetime.
