Implantable Devices
Implantable Devices
Audiologists work with Otolaryngologists (Ear, Nose and Throat physicians) to determine if an implantable device might benefit the patient more than conventional hearing aids. We currently work with the BAHA speech processor for individuals who have single sided deafness or permanent conductive hearing loss. We recommend the cochlear implant for people who have lost their ability to understand speech, even at loud levels in both ears. Implantable devices are not considered hearing aids by the Food and Drug Administration and may be a covered insurance benefit.
