Central Auditory Processing
This testing is part of a team approach between the Speech-language pathologists and the audiologists here in the Hearing and Speech Department. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has determined that central auditory processing disorder is to be diagnosed by an audiologist, with support provided by a Speech-language pathologist to determine what services, if any, are appropriate.
Referrals are made by physicians or school personnel. Ideally, the audiological portion would be completed first, and then the speech-language testing is scheduled.
