Cochlear Implant Evaluation
Cochlear implant evaluations are performed by a team of professionals including a Speech-language pathologist, audiologists, and Otolaryngologists (Ear, Nose, and Throat physicians). Speech-language testing is just one part of the process to decide if a child should get a cochlear implant. Information is collected about the child's use of sounds or gestures to communicate, if there is an interest in communicating, and the ways the family has been teaching the child to understand things.
