The Heart and Vascular Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a national leader in cardiovascular care, surgery and research. Recognized for the highest standards of care by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the National Cardiovascular Data Registry®, the Heart and Vascular Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease, including cardiovascular imaging, valve repair and replacement, bypass surgery, pediatric procedures, and device placement.
On the forefront of both clinical care and research, Wake Forest Baptist performs the majority of cardiac catheterizations using the radial approach. In addition, researchers are actively involved in studies and clinical trials exploring vascular stents, determining genetic markers that could lead to the prevention of heart disease, providing the best treatments for atrial fibrillation, studying the impact of obesity on heart disease, repairing congenital defects, and using imaging to predict and prevent future cardiovascular events.
