TandemHeart®

TandemHeart is a versatile ventricular assist device that can be placed by either cardiologists or surgeons under critical cardiovascular conditions to provide blood flow to vital organs. The device is used as a bridge to recovery (i.e., improvement of the heart at which time the device can be removed) or a bridge to a decision (implantation of a more permanent device).

Wake Forest Baptist’s Advanced Cardiac Care and Transplant Program uses TandemHeart for every conceivable situation:

  • Acute heart failure
  • High-risk cardiovascular conditions
  • Long-term treatment
  • Bridge to transplantation
