Uninsured Financial Assistance

North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH) is a not-for-profit hospital that is committed to providing healthcare to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Wake Forest University Physicians (WFUP) is the medical group practice for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC) and functions as the exclusive medical staff for NCBH, and also serves as the clinical faculty for Wake Forest University Health Sciences (WFUHS) a not-for-profit subsidiary of Wake Forest University.

NCBH and WFUP are devoted to providing financial relief for medical expense incurred by families who do not have access to financial resources to pay for their health care services. Relief is provided to those patients requiring medically necessary treatment after exhausting all other sources of payment or financial assistance.  NCBH and WFUP routinely screen all patients with limited financial resources for eligibility in the following programs: Group Health Insurance Plans, Individual Health Insurance Plans, COBRA, Health Coverage Tax Credits, Medicare, Medicaid and Women-Infant-Children (WIC).  If you qualify for coverage under any of these programs, you must enroll in the program and are not eligible for financial assistance through NCBH or WFUP.  To see if you are potentially eligible for any of these programs, you may visit the Foundation for Health Coverage Education’s website and complete a brief five question survey that will identify programs for which you qualify.

Below is a summary of our charity care and financial assistance programs:

Charity Care Discounts

Charity Care Discounts are determined using criteria such as income, asset and other fund sources availability, considered in relation to the nature and the extent of medical services required. Based upon these criteria, patients will be eligible to receive a discount of 100, 75 or 50 percent of the patient’s responsibility, if their calculated gross annual income is between 200 to 400 percent of the most recently published Health and Human Services Federal Poverty Guidelines.
