LCME Accreditation

During February 21-24, 2016, the medical school will host a visit by an ad hoc team representing the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the official accrediting organization for educational programs leading to the M.D. degree in the United States and Canada. An accreditation site visit by the LCME is a significant event in the life of any medical school and occurs every eight years. Our last successful accreditation occurred in 2008.

The process leading up to the LCME site visit involves a comprehensive data collection effort, an institutional self-study and an independent student analysis. We begin this process on July 1, 2014.

The LCME accreditation process provides an excellent opportunity for the members of this medical school community to deepen our understanding of all aspects of our M.D. degree program and to implement quality improvements through our formal self-study process.

With the broad involvement of our basic and clinical science faculty, administration, students, staff, and alumni, we will identify and address our areas in need of improvement, highlight our strengths and accomplishments and build upon our history of innovation and excellence in medical education to continue the tradition of full accreditation of our outstanding M.D. degree program.
