Vice President and Chief Information Officer Chad Eckes, MBA

Chad Eckes became vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in March 2014. 

He is responsible for all aspects of information technology, including strategic planning, resource acquisition and the integration of new and existing systems to advance the Medical Center’s clinical, educational and research missions. 

Eckes joined Wake Forest Baptist from Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), a network with treatment facilities in six states, where he served as CIO from 2005 to 2013 and then as chief strategy officer. During his time at CTCA he received numerous honors, including being named to CIO Magazine’s “CIO 100” list four times, Computerworld magazine’s “100 Premier IT Leaders” list in 2013, and led CTCA’s IT department to receiving the “Best Place to Work in IT” two years in a row. 

Before working at CTCA, Eckes held vice president, senior director and director positions at insurance and consulting companies focused on information technology, strategic planning, finance, human resources, and claims. 

Eckes holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, a master’s certificate in project management from Wisconsin-Madison and an M.B.A. from Wisconsin-Whitewater.
