Vice President and Chief Information Officer Chad Eckes, MBA

Chad Eckes, who became executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in April 2015, directs all financial functions at the Medical Center. 

Eckes has a background well suited to the world of large clinical data for population health with tightly integrated financial data that will increasingly drive success for the future. His broad portfolio includes years of working in strategy, finance, revenue cycle, claims, growth, talent, customer experience and information technology domains. 

As CFO, he develops and implements long- and short-term financial strategies and oversees integration and consolidation of systems to optimize financial functions across the organization. He also oversees Wake Forest Baptist’s information technology (IT) division. 

Prior to CFO, Eckes was Wake Forest Baptist’s vice president and chief information officer (CIO) beginning in March 2014. In his first year at the Medical Center, he was focused on leading the transformation of the IT department including stabilizing and optimizing Epic, PeopleSoft, and the infrastructure. He also aligned IT leadership around improving employee engagement. Before then, he served as chief strategy officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Previously Eckes held CIO, vice president, director and controller positions within health care, insurance and consulting companies. 

Eckes holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, a master’s certificate in project management from Wisconsin-Madison and an M.B.A. from Wisconsin-Whitewater.
