A Short Tour of Forsyth's Medical Past
Dr. Robert W. Prichard, a renowned pathologist, loved history so he created this tour of area medical institutions in 1981. As he states in his introduction: This is a tour of about 28 miles, taking about 2 hours, intended for those who know little or nothing about medicine in Forsyth County's past, or even the geography of the county. The tour was generated after Dr. Prichard's writing of "Medicine: Winston-Salem in History" book in 1976, part of a series of historical books about this area.
In 2013, the tour is now 32 years old so street names and buildings have changed or are no longer there. This online exhibit consists of the original text and photos by Dr. Prichard. A video presentation of the tour can be viewed at the Dorothy Carpenter Medical Archives.
