Health and Wellness Information Center from NCLive
The breadth and depth of health information available online is both astounding and overwhelming, but finding reliable health information on the internet can be difficult for laypeople. This past fall, NC LIVE partnered with NC Health Info, a statewide health science libraries service, to create a new, user-friendly Health and Wellness Information portal.
The new Health & Wellness Information Center is accessible now via http://health.nclive.org
The Health & Wellness Portal is designed for members of the general public who are looking to find trustworthy health information online. The health portal includes free access to health information, news, journal articles, eBooks, videos, health resources in Spanish, and more.
North Carolina residents can freely and easily search premium content from top health and medical journals and books. Additionally, trustworthy web resources have been hand-selected by health science librarians at Wake Forest School of Medicine, UNC-CH, Duke, ECU, and AHEC. New content includes an information resources page for health content written in Spanish, such as Salud en Español.
Other featured content includes free access to health related eBooks available from EBSCOhost and MyiLibrary. Hundreds of eBook titles are available on a variety of health topics including diet, fitness, and illnesses.
The Health and Wellness Portal also includes access to popular health videos from PBS, including Bionic Body and A Different Way to Heal. North Carolina libraries recently added more videos from the Patient Education Institute which are available through the NC Health Info health pages.
Note:
Some of the premium content is licensed and requires login off-campus; Wake Forest affiliates may login through the
Library's proxy
server. Other North Carolina residents may log in
with their public library card
.
