Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient in either the pre-hospital or hospital setting. In this course, participants will enhance their skills in the treatment of cardiovascular emergencies through active participation in a series of simulated cardiopulmonary cases designed to reinforce important concepts.

Prerequisites for all ACLS Classes

  1. Participants must have a working knowledge in rhythm interpretation and cardiovascular pharmacology.
  2. Participants must have a current BLS provider card (if class taken outside WFBMC, fax a copy of the card to 336-716-5927 with note stating which class you registered for).
  3. Participants should have a current ACLS Provider Manual. 
  4. It is required that participants complete the pretest at heart.org/eccstudent (code: compression).

ACLS PROVIDER

This two-day course is designed for participants who have never taken ACLS or for providers who don’t practice the concepts frequently.

Credits

The Wake Forest School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 14.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

North Carolina Baptist Hospital Nursing Education and Research is an Approved Provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Participation in this class provides 14.25 CEUs.

Fees: $300 (MD, PA) $150 (RN, EMT-P, etc.)

*Refunds will not be given if you are unable to attend this class. Please do not pay for a class unless you are prepared to attend the class date that you have scheduled. If unable to attend your scheduled date, we will gladly move you to a different day that will work with your schedule.

ACLS & BLS COMBINED UPDATE

This one-day course is designed to allow participants to get both BLS and ACLS in a one day format. Participants must have previously completed ACLS within the last five years (if previous ACLS class taken outside Life Support Education, fax a copy of the card to 336-716-5927).

Credits

The Wake Forest School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

North Carolina Baptist Hospital Nursing Education and Research is an Approved Provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. ACLS E-LEARNING

This online-based learning program provides an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. This course uses a simplified, user-friendly design & microsimulation technology to present realistic scenarios from the ACLS core courses.

Credits: HeartCode™ ACLS Anywhere is approved by the AACN, ACCME, ACPE & CECBEMS for CME/CEH/CE credits.

E-Learning Steps:

1. HeartCode™ ACLS Part 1- This is the online portion of the course.  Register for the skills testing date you want to attend.  We will then provide you with an access code to complete HeartCode ACLS Part 1 online.  Print your completion certificate and bring it to your registered skills testing date in Life Support Education.

2. HeartCode™ ACLS Part 2- During the skills testing session, each participant will serve as a team leader in a simulated scenario.  The skills testing last approximately one hour and must be completed within 60 days after completion of the online didactic portion.

**Beware of Scams! ** There are several websites that offer "online ACLS" courses. However, the American Heart Association DOES NOT recognize any e-learning ACLS courses except for HeartCode™ ACLS Anywhere. Please contact us before purchasing any online ACLS or BLS product.

WFHS and Outside Student Fees:
$170 - for online access code and skills check off
$50 - skills check-off only (for those who have already completed HeartCode ACLS Part 1)

NCBH Employees:
No charge for online access code and skills check off; if you receive a code and do not complete the entire online portion and skills check-off, you will be charged $120.
No Charge - skills check-off only (for those who have already completed HeartCode ACLS Part 1)

ACLS INSTRUCTOR

This course is designed for the ACLS Provider that has demonstrated excellence in ACLS concepts and wishes to achieve instructor status.

Additional Prerequisites:

1. Completed Instructor Candidate Application indicating your instructor commitment, your acceptance by an AHA Training Center, and your verification of Instructor Potential. This form can be found under the "forms" tab on our website.You will need to contact your most recent ACLS instructor to verify your instructor potential, and you must contact the training center that you would like to join and have them sign TC Alignment section. Please do not send this form until ALL four sections have been filled out.
2. Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS Provider cards
3. Participants must obtain a copy of a current ACLS Provider Manual (available in LSE)
4. Completion of the AHA online Instructor Essentials course
5. Must obtain a score of 90% or better on a valid AHA ACLS exam on the day of the instructor course

Fees: $250
