This emphasis of the Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship (Neuromuscular pathway) focuses on the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders with extensive exposure to electrodiagnosis, nerve and muscle ultrasound, and therapeutic chemodenervation.
The fellowship is approved by the ACGME and fulfills the requirements for taking the certifying examination in clinical neurophysiology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Fellows will participate in the general neuromuscular clinic, as well as the ALS Center and Muscular Dystrophy Association clinics. They will receive detailed training in:
- Routine nerve conduction studies
- Special conduction studies (blink reflex, F-wave and H-reflex testing)
- Repetitive nerve stimulation
- EMG
- Nerve and muscle ultrasound
- Autonomic testing
- Botulinum injection
Each fellow will be encouraged to participate in clinical research studies relating to electrodiagnosis, neuromuscular ultrasound or neuromuscular disorders. They will receive limited training in:
- Movement disorders
- EEG
- Intraoperative monitoring
- Evoked potentials
- Sleep disorders
