Epilepsy Clinic

The Wake Forest Comprehensive Epilepsy Center Clinic, a part of the Wake Forest Baptist Health Outpatient Clinic, is located on the 4th Floor of the Janeway Clinical Sciences Tower. It consists of 18 examining rooms, a 2-bed treatment room and on-site laboratory facilities for clinical and research purposes.  We are located next door to the Neurosurgery Clinic, with whom we collaborate for Vagal Nerve Stimulator and Epilepsy surgeries.

Our team of specialists in the Epilepsy Clinic consists of 3 adult epileptologists, 3 pediatric epileptologists, both adult and pediatric epilepsy nurse practitioners, an epilepsy pharmacist, a registered dietician, an epilepsy nurse clinician, and a dedicated epilepsy social worker. We also work closely with Pat Gibson and the Epilepsy Information Network to provide information regarding epilepsy support groups and education about epilepsy.

Clinic hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. To make an appointment, call 336-716-4101.

For Adults

Our physicians specializing in adult care are trained in both neurology and epilepsy, as well as interpretation of EEG and epilepsy monitoring. In addition to diagnosis and care of isolated and new onset seizures, we specialize in challenging epilepsy situations. Patients who have failed multiple seizure medications are evaluated and offered treatments including the newest therapies available, such as investigational seizure medications and devices, epilepsy surgery, and dietary modification. Within the adult clinic, we offer advanced care for women with epilepsy, including birth control, prenatal counselling, pregnancy and menopause-related issues.  We also provide care for patients with epilepsy complicated by other neurological conditions, such as stroke, brain injury, and brain tumors. As part of total patient care, we provide up to date epilepsy education and information regarding driving, employment and safety.

For Children

Trained in both neurology and epilepsy, our pediatric physicians have extensive experience working with infants and children with seizures and epilepsy and related neurological conditions. They are also trained in interpretation of EEG and epilepsy monitoring for diagnostic purposes as well as possible epilepsy surgery. They also conduct research on neurological diseases, guaranteeing that our pediatric patients have access to the very best and newest treatments available. We have a coordinated program for the ketogenic diet and other dietary modifications for epilepsy patients.  We also provide education and information regarding child development, school, and safety.
