Diagnostic Neurology
The Diagnostic Neurology laboratory performs electroencephalograph (EEGs), routine and intraoperative evoked potentials and video-EEG monitoring. More than 2,000 procedures are performed each year. WFBMC is the only site in North Carolina and surrounding states, to utilize Magnetoencephalography (MEG) – an innovative, non-invasive diagnostic neurology tool that provides valuable information about normal and abnormal function of the brain.
Our 6-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, the most modern in the state, is dedicated to confirming a diagnosis of epilepsy and pinpointing seizure activity and origin. Video and electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings of seizure activity can be made 24 hours a day.
