Multiple Sclerosis Center

The Multiple Sclerosis Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health has been designated as a Comprehensive Center of Care by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This important recognition is given only to MS Centers with specialized clinical expertise and wide ranging medical, mental health, and rehabilitation services for people with MS. 

In addition, the Multiple Sclerosis Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health offers programs funded by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation providing opportunities for complementary care through meditation and yoga instruction. 

Our mission is to give patients and their families the best possible care and to educate the community and community-based doctors about the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. 

MS Program 

The MS Center provides care for individuals with the disease from throughout the southeast United States including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. 

Our Multiple Sclerosis Center offers all approved treatments for the disease including the latest oral and IV infusion therapies. Individuals with MS receive comprehensive evaluations of their disease and have access to physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapists along with psychologists and complementary medicine practitioners. 

Clinical Trials 

The MS Specialists at Wake Forest Baptist Health are working to further knowledge about MS and its treatment through clinical research, the clinical trial program is currently enrolling individuals with MS to study approved and experimental MS therapies. MS Care Team

Members of the care team include two doctors who specialize in the treatment of MS, Emily Pharr, MD and Unhand Abou-Zeid, MD. Veronica Abbott, NP, is a certified multiple sclerosis nurse who sees patients with urgent needs and provides follow up care.
