Multidisciplinary Multiple Sclerosis Clinic
The Multidisciplinary Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic consists of several disciplines:
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Recreational therapy
- Social services
Other services, such as assistive technologies, are available. Our goal is to treat patients with MS in a manner that will provide the patients and their families a way to continue to participate in a lifestyle optimized for functional independence.
Medical treatments aimed at decreasing disease progression are used in conjunction with symptomatic therapies directed at minimizing spasticity, pain, fatigue and other troublesome symptoms. The clinic provides guidance in this workforce.
Social Services is crucial in assisting the family in learning how to adjust with the disease. Physical Therapy helps patients learn new techniques that will maximize strength, conserve energy and allow optimal mobility. Recreational Therapy gives the patient opportunities to participate in a lifestyle that they may have had earlier in their life.
