Respected Neurosurgeon Assumes Additional Role

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Charles Branch, M.D., professor and chair of Surgical Sciences-Neurosurgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, has been appointed to a four-year term as editor-in-chief of The Spine Journal, the official peer-reviewed journal of the North American Spine Society.

Branch is a respected neurosurgeon with extensive publishing experience and has served as deputy editor for neurosurgery since the Journal’s inception. In addition, he has been chair of Neurosurgery at Wake Forest Baptist since 2000, a role he will continue while overseeing the Journal’s executive editorial board. He earned his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his internship and residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

The North American Spine Society is the largest multidisciplinary spine society in the world.
