Starling-Edwards Named Heart Center Outreach Coordinator
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Heart Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has created the role of outreach coordinator – to ensure smooth access to services for referring physicians and their patients – and named Stephanie Starling-Edwards, an R.N. with nearly 20 years’ experience, to the position.
Starling-Edwards, whose experience includes 16 years of cardiovascular nursing, was most recently the cardiac wellness coordinator at the Heart Center. Among her duties, she will provide cardiovascular-related educational resources to physicians and nurses.
“The dynamic and complex nature of cardiovascular services provided by Wake Forest Baptist to the people of our region requires us to be on top of community, physician and patient needs,” said Rich Lundy, administrative director of Cardiology Diagnostic Services. “The Heart Center outreach coordinator will work with area physicians and hospitals to help extend the resources and services of the Heart Center in support of their community cardiovascular service needs.”
She received her associate degree in nursing from Forsyth Technical College and her bachelor's degree in nursing from Gardner Webb University. In 2000 she was named among North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses.
Starling-Edwards lives in Yadkinville with her husband, Tim Edwards, and their three sons: Chase age 12, Dylan age 8 and Weston age 5. They attend Yadkinville United Methodist Church.
