Cardiologist William C. Little Elected to Serve on American Board of Internal Medicine Sub-Specialty Board
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Cardiologist William C. Little, M.D., has been elected to serve on the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) sub-specialty board on cardiovascular disease. Little is professor of medicine and chief of the cardiology section at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Little received his medical degree in 1975 from Ohio State University. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Virginia Hospitals and a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Little is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is the author of more than 175 scientific publications.
The ABIM sub-specialty board on cardiovascular disease consists of 10 cardiologists. They write and administer the qualifying examination that leads to board certification in the sub-specialty of cardiology.
The ABIM is the U.S. board that sets the standards and certifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes of physicians who practice in internal medicine, its subspecialties and areas of added qualifications.
Through ABIM certification and maintenance of certification processes, successful candidates are awarded or maintain board certified status and are called diplomates.
These physicians have demonstrated the ability and the commitment to lifelong learning necessary to provide high quality medical care.
