New Faculty Member Joins Wake Forest University Eye Center

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Shree K. Kurup, M.D., has joined the faculty at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as an assistant professor in ophthalmology.
Kurup’s clinical interests include vitreoretinal diseases and uveitis and ocular immunology. His research focuses on diabetic diseases, macular degeneration and auto-immune diseases.
Kurup is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree at Calicut Medical College, India, and completed a residency in internal medicine and ophthalmology at New York Medical College. Kurup completed three fellowships at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health, the Vitreoretinal Foundation in Memphis, Tenn., and at the University of Pittsburgh.
Kurup is a scientific reviewer of multiple medical journals both in ophthalmology and internal medicine. He is an author of “Duane’s Fundamentals of Clinical Ophthalmology,” 2007.
