WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Stephen I. Kramer, M.D., [full quality photo] professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, will be inducted into the American College of Psychiatrists (ACP) at its annual meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, Feb. 23-28.

Kramer is the medical director of adult inpatient services and director of Neuropsychiatry Service and Forensic Psychiatry Consultants. He was nominated by Stephen Shanfield, M.D., professor of psychiatry emeritus at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

“I am delighted to be elected to membership in ACP, one of our nation's signature scientific organizations that recognizes and honors excellence in medical education and clinical care,” Kramer said.

Kramer’s clinical interests are the neuropsychiatric components of traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, and epilepsy. He is the immediate past president of the North Carolina Psychiatric Association and treasurer of the Forsyth-Stokes-Davie Counties Medical Society.

ACP is a not-for-profit honorary association dedicated to providing continuing education to its members, promoting the latest advances in the specialty, and supporting the highest standards in psychiatry. Membership is limited to 750 practicing psychiatrists who have demonstrated outstanding competence in the field of psychiatry, and who have achieved national recognition in one of the following fields: clinical practice, research, academic leadership and teaching.  New members must be nominated by fellows or members who are personally familiar with their work and career.
