A grant provided to the Downtown Health Plaza (DHP) will help uninsured pregnant women with gestational diabetes receive the testing supplies, medications and education needed for a successful birth. The one year grant for $21,929 is provided by the North Carolina March of Dimes Chapter. As one of the area’s leading providers of medical care for low-income, minority women, the DHP is uniquely qualified to reach the communities that most strongly feel the impact of our country’s high infant mortality rate. The DHP is a primary care practice with more than 50 clinicians affiliated with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. For more information, visit the March of Dimes Web site at marchofdimes.com or its Spanish language Web site at nacersano.org.

Steven C. Snelgrove, vice president of operations at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, has been appointed to the North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA) Policy Development Committee. This committee serves as the primary investigational and policy recommendation body of the NCHA.

The overall responsibility of the committee is to monitor, coordinate and manage all policy issues facing the association, as well as establishing an annual list of issues and topics to be addressed.
