Medical Training, Research Programs Ranked Among Best in the U.S.
Wake Forest University School of Medicine has once again been recognized by U.S.News & World Report for its quality academic medical center programs.
The 2012 edition of “Best Graduate Schools” surveyed 146 accredited medical schools or programs, and determined ranking based on statistical data in the two highest enrollment areas of primary care and research as well as expert assessment from faculty, deans or program directors. This year, the School of Medicine placed 37th among primary care programs and 45th among research programs.
In addition, the 2012 rankings also include updated peer-assessment-only rankings in eight other areas of academic medicine and allied disciplines: health care management, nursing, nursing-anesthesia, nursing-midwifery, physician assistant, public health, rehabilitation counseling, and veterinary medicine. The School of Medicine’s joint program with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to train nurse anesthetists ranked 7th among the 101 nursing anesthesia programs surveyed and 18th among the 104 physician assistant training programs.
The annual report on best graduate schools began in 1990 and, in addition to medicine, ranks professional programs in the fields of business, education, engineering and law.
