Michael T. Freehill, MD

Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics

Freehill is a former professional pitcher who specializes in all shoulder injuries and sports medicine. His shoulder practice covers all aspects of shoulder pathology including arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, and instability. He is particularly interested in injuries common to pitchers and other overhead athletes.

Currently, Freehill serves as the head team physician to the Wake Forest University baseball team, and team physician for Winston-Salem State University and the Winston-Salem Dash. He has worked with elite athletes at all levels of his training, including residency at Johns Hopkins University, sports fellowship at Stanford University and shoulder fellowship at Harvard University.
