Dr. Miller's research interests are focused on cardiovascular MRI, coronary artery disease, chest pain, cardiovascular emergencies and pulmonary emboli. His most recent research has looked at ED evaluation of chest pain.

Dr. James W. Hoekstra, chair of Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has been named Vice President for Clinical Business Development effective September 1, 2012. Hoekstra will continue to serve as Chair of Emergency Medicine.

Hoekstra is the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in a university-based level-one trauma center. He wrote two books: "Handbook of Cardiovascular Emergencies" in 1996 and "Handbook of Cardiovascular Emergencies, 2nd Ed.," in 2001. He is past president of the Society of Academic
