Burton V. Reifler, MD
Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry
Reifler has been a professor of psychiatry at Wake Forest Baptist since 1987. His major research area is the relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and depression. Reifler is the current director of Faith in Action, a national program on interfaith volunteer caregiving. He serves on the boards of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the International Psychogeriatric Association. He is the past chairperson of the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Aging and former director of “Partners in Caregiving,” which focused on developing adult day centers throughout the country. Reifler has authored more than 100 journal articles and book chapters. He is listed in Best Doctors in America.
