The Practice Council defines, implements, and maintains the highest standards of clinical nursing practice consistent with established and/or evolving professional standards and requirements of regulatory agencies.

Practice Council activities include:

  • Defining the scope of practice of the professional nurse at WFBMC
  • Defining the scope of practice of the LPN at WFBMC
  • Defining the role and responsibilities of patient care support staff at WFBMC
  • Reviewing, approving and revising policies and procedures in areas where nursing care is delivered in accordance with current national guidelines
  • Establishing an evaluation and a peer review format for all clinical nurses
  • Incorporating nursing research findings into clinical practice as appropriate
  • Participating in the redesign of the patient care delivery system
  • Addressing multidisciplinary issues which impact patient care
  • Participating in the review and recommendation of products and equipment
  • Representing the nursing perspective in ethical/legal issues within WFBMC
