Gynecologic Oncology

The Section on Gynecologic Oncology at Wake Forest School of Medicine is a major referral center for the treatment of gynecologic malignancies.  It serves the piedmont and western North Carolina as well as areas of Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.  As an integral part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Section provides state-of-the-art treatment for gynecologic malignancies including surgery and administration of chemotherapy.  In conjunction with the Department of Radiation Oncology, advanced techniques in radiation therapy are a vital part of gynecologic cancer treatment.  Multidisciplinary management in addition to Radiation Oncology is provided through close cooperation with Surgical Oncology, Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology and Pathology.  Care is provided by Samuel S. Lentz, MD, Section Head of Gynecologic Oncology; Michael G. Kelly, MD, Assistant Professor; and William M. Petty, Jr., MD, Assistant Professor.
