Human Research Oversight
The Human Research Oversight program is independent of the Wake Forest Institutional Review Board (IRB) and reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Research. The goal of the program is to help fulfill the institution’s responsibility for ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations governing human research and to promote an environment in which human subject research will be conducted according to the highest standards.
The primary responsibilities of the program are quality assurance, post approval monitoring of IRB protocols, assessment of unanticipated problems, and identification of noncompliance.
In addition, the Human Research Oversight Program is available to help investigators and their research teams understand and comply with federal regulations in order to promote proactive self-regulation. Educational programs in good research practice are provided several times throughout the year, as well as individualized educational sessions customized to specific research needs.
