Giving Blood
You may need to receive blood during or after your surgery. This can be done in 3 different ways:
- Autologous Blood - you give your own blood and it is frozen for you.
- Directed Blood Donation - your parents can donate blood for you.
- Blood Bank Blood - this is blood that volunteers have donated and it has been tested and kept frozen for surgical or emergency use.
Discuss this with your parents and let the Surgical Coordinator know which option you choose when she calls you.
