Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs
At Wake Forest Baptist Health, we are educating tomorrow's medical leaders in two separate Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs, one for primary care physicians and one for orthopaedic surgeons.
Sports Medicine Fellowship applicants compete for admittance because they want to train with some of the nation's top sports medicine experts. Members of our own highly-specialized sports medicine
physician team are graduates of these types of programs.
How does the Sports Medicine Fellowship program help patients?
The same physicians who treat patients are sought-after leaders in the sports medicine field. They are training the next generation in the most complicated techniques and latest research. Sports Medicine Fellows benefit from:
- Clinical experience with a wide range of athletes, from Division I student-athletes from Wake Forest University to professional dancers in training at the North Carolina School of the Arts
- One-on-one faculty supervision in the operating room and outpatient areas
- Involvement in clinical research to produce at least one major publication or scientific presentation in the field of sports medicine
