Wheelchair Seating Clinic
The Wheelchair Seating Clinic provides comprehensive wheelchair seating assessments at CompRehab Plaza.
The goal of the clinic is to help people secure wheelchair and seating systems that optimize their mobility while ensuring safe and effective positioning.
A physical therapist experienced in seating and positioning evaluates clients to determine their functional status, medical concerns, positioning needs and environmental and social issues related to seating.
Current seating systems are evaluated, and clients often can try other options:
- Power wheelchairs
- Manual wheelchairs
- Scooters
- Cushions
- Positioning devices
- Other Mobility devices
A physical therapist works with a rehab technology supplier of the patient's choice. The supplier works with the insurance companies to secure funding for the equipment. A social worker, occupational therapist, and assistive technology specialist can be consulted if needed.
To make an appointment in our Wheelchair Seating Clinic, please call 336-716-8400.
Physician referrals are required, and physicians are notified of the clinic's recommendations.
Clients should also bring insurance information and their current seating systems to the appointment.
The Wheelchair Seating Clinic is one more way the Medical Center seeks to meet the needs of those we serve.
