Question: What is your background at Wake Forest Baptist?

Answer: I have lived and practiced in North Carolina for more than 25 years. In addition, I have been actively involved in the training of family medicine residents for the past 15 years.

Q: What are your clinical specialties?

A: I am keenly interested in health care issues of the elderly, minor surgery performed in the office, dermatology and cryosurgery. I also enjoy working with families and children.

Q: What is your patient care philosophy?

A: I believe in open communications in the doctor-patient relationship. In particular, good listening skills are critical for physicians - that's the basis for developing and achieving mutual care goals for the optimal benefit of the patient. I also believe that everyone should have a personal medical "home" that serves as the focal point for their acute, chronic and preventive care needs. By establishing an ongoing relationship with a primary care doctor, patients can be assured that their care is readily available, accountable, comprehensive, integrated and satisfying.

Q: What fun facts should we know about you?

A: I am married and have three grown children. My wife, Susan, is a landscape designer and horticulturist teaching at Forsyth Tech. I enjoy reading, family hikes, biking and, of course, ACC basketball. My other interests include travel, wine collecting and oil painting.
