STATE OF THE ART LASER CENTER OPENS AT WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY
BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER

The Wake Forest University Laser Center has just opened with state of the art lasers for a variety of clinical applications. The Laser Center is operated by the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery here at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The center has three types of lasers that it utilizes. The carbon dioxide laser assists patients with rejuvenation. Specifically it can be used to treat wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. It can also be used to tighten up the skin of the entire face. Next, the new intense light laser, Vascu-light, can be used to treat spider and varicose veins, as well as unwanted facial hair. It can also be used to remove unwanted hair from other areas of the body. This laser can be used to remove of tattoos as well. Finally, a third laser, the pulse-dye laser, is available to treat vascular lesions such as hemangiomas and can be used to take the discoloration out of scars.

The wide variety of lasers available at the Wake Forest University Laser Center places it in an elite group of centers offering these services. The center has more than 75 years of combined experience in this field with the five surgeons operating at the center.
