What is Interventional Radiology?

Many conditions that once required surgery can now be treated nonsurgically by an Interventional Radiologist. An Interventional Radiologist is a physician who sub-specializes in minimally invasive procedures using x-ray, ultrasound, MRI and CT Scans.

The most common procedures performed include angiograms with angioplasty and stenting, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), varicose vein ablation, chemoembolization and radiofrequency ablation.

The minimally invasive procedures offered by Interventional Radiology have less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to open surgery.
