Peggy Pruett Cromer, LRT, CTRS, CPO

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Programs and Aquatics
Peggy has been employed at Wake Forest Baptist Health since 1983. She has worked with a variety of patients in her career, but her primary focus has been Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs, specifically persons with Acquired Brain Injury. In 1998, she developed the aquatic program for the comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation patients and community based aquatic programs for adults and children; as well as health & wellness aquatic programs.
Peggy is licensed as a Recreational Therapist with the state of North Carolina and nationally certified as a CTRS with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. She is a member of ATRA, NCRTA, and AEA. She served two three year terms with the Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board for North Carolina. Also, she is a past president of the North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association. In 2009, she was appointed by the Governor to serve a three year term on the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.
During her leisure time, Peggy enjoys collecting pez, historical literature on the Titanic, traveling to the coast and scuba diving.
As I continue to participate in this process called recreational therapy I am reminded of the following quote.

Peggy has earned several prestigious awards during her career to include:
- Inspiration Award - Winston-Salem Mayor’s Council Persons with Disabilities-1999
- Distinguished Member Award – NC Recreation Therapy Association-1995
- Distinguished Individual Award – NCRPS – Therapeutic Recreation Division-1991
- Distinguished Alumnus Award – ECU Leisure Studies Alumni Association-2002
