RACE-ER
Wake Forest Baptist’s participation in the statewide study on the treatment of chest pain patients called Reperfusion of Acute myocardial infarction in North Carolina Emergency departments – Emergency Response (RACE-ER) has enhanced the quality of care delivered in 15 hospitals and 11 EMS services and reduced the time it takes to unblock the coronary artery of a person having a heart attack.
RACE-ER focused on obtaining a 12-lead EKG within 10 minutes of arrival and instituting reperfusion therapy through thrombolytics therapy or primary percutanceous coronary intervention (PCI). The utilization of the new AirCare STEMI Auto-Launch allows for air service to be deployed immediately.
