Mass Spectrometer

GC/Mass Spectrometer

GC Mass Spectrometer
Features:

Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum XLS tandem GC/MS/MS and Trace MS

EI and negative ion CI sources

Unit mass resolution

Lower detection limit < 100 fmole

Interfaced to a Trace GC’s equipped with autosamplers
These mass spectrometers give investigators a simple to use tool for the analysis of small, volatile molecules isolated from biological sources. These instruments are used to quantify F2-isoprostanes, aldehydes generated by lipid oxidation, oxy-sterols and phytanic acids. When sample mass is limited we can use this instrumentation to measure cholesterol and methylated fatty acids (FAME). The Trace MS were purchased with grant funds from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the Winston-Salem Foundation. The TSQ was purchased with funds from the NIH Shared Instrumentation Program.
