PhD Graduate Program: Cancer Biology
The PhD in Cancer Biology program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is designed to train the next generation of scientists in basic and translational research in cancer biology. Highlights of our program include:
Research Areas
Research and course work trains our graduates to critically evaluate basic biological principles in cancer biology and to design meaningful experiments to test formulated hypotheses. Student research areas include:
- Cellular defense and metabolism
- Cell growth and survival
- Gene-environment interactions
- Aberrant signaling pathways in tumor cells
- Molecular cancer epidemiology
- Cancer control
Living Expenses
All full-time students receive a full tuition scholarship, health insurance and a stipend to cover living expenses. In addition, all students receive a laptop computer on entry into the program to assist in their research.
