Center for Bioethics, Health, and Society

The Center for Bioethics, Health, and Society provides a collaborative intellectual environment for addressing ethical, social, and policy issues of importance for health care, biomedical research, and public health. This is a cross-campus center at WFU, which also provides a Master of Arts degree in Bioethics. Learn more about the Center for Bioethics, Health, and Society.

Department of Health and Exercise Science

The Department of Health Exercise Science on the WFU Reynolda Campus seeks to advance the understanding of health and the prevention/treatment of chronic disease and physical disability. J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation

The Sticht Center on Aging promotes the health and independence of older adults by fostering multi-disciplinary collaboration in basic and clinical research, research training, professional education and community outreach. These programs bring together the talents of more than 40 faculty members from 14 departments, institutes and centers. The Sticht Center houses 2 major affiliate programs: 

  • The Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center
  • The Kulynych Center for Memory and Cognition Research. 

Aging research at Wake Forest is broad-based and well supported and includes more than 30 federally-funded investigator initiated grants, 4 research training awards, and 1 program project grant.  Learn more about the Sticht Center.

Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity

The Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity strives to promote and a world of total health and equity for all persons. To this aim, the Center has 3 program areas: 

  • Research and Evaluation
  • Community Outreach
  • Faculty and Student Development.
