Equipment and Applications
Q-Exactive HF mass spectrometer with Dionex nanoLC system and
auto-sampler. This instrument is used for proteomics studies, including
protein identification, SILAC, post-translational modification analysis,
targetd SRM/PRM analysis, and tandem mass tagging of peptides for relative
- Shimazdu LCMS-8050 triple quadrupole mass
spectrometer with Shimazdu UFLC system and auto-sampler. This instrument
is used for targeted metabolomics and pharmacokinetic studies. Examples
of metabolite classes measured include, amino acids, nucleotides,
sphingolipids, organic acids, etc. Please see the Metabolites List for a list of metabolites included in a typical targeted metabolomics analysis.
- Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum XLS GC/MS with Trace Ultra gas chromatograph, and Triplus auto-sampler. This instrument is used for analysis of fatty acid methyl esters, free and total cholesterol, oxysterols, triglycerides, and isoprostanes.
- Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum Discovery Max with HP/Agilent 1100 HPLC and HP/Agilent auto-sampler. This instrument is used for analysis of phospholipids (PC, PE, PG, PI, PS, PA, LPC, and Sphingomyelin), Sphingosine-1-Phosphate, FTY-720, cholesteryl esters, triglycerides, coumarin/diazepam metabolites, halofuginone, and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

MALDI-TOF. A time-of-flight mass spectrometer with high sensitivity and
mass accuracy. The instrument is used for accurate mass measurement of intact
proteins up to 100 kDa.
- Protein and peptide
sequence analyses are performed on a Perkin Elmer/Applied Biosystems Model
492HT Procise automated protein sequencer. Sequence
data can be obtained with a detection limit of approximately 0.5 to 1 pmole of
protein. The protein sequencer yields N-terminal sequence data
purified proteins and peptides as well as by transfer blotting from PVDF
membranes following electrophoresis (1-D or 2-D).
