Study Type: cardiovascular
Study Purpose: This study will test whether the lower systolic blood pressure goal influences the rate of incident dementia and mild cognitive impairment, global and domain-specific cognitive function, and small vessel ischemic disease.
Study Design: This study will test whether a treatment program aimed at reducing systolic blood pressure (SBP) to a lower goal than currently recommended will reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.
Study Qualifications
- Must be in the main SPRINT study
- 2800 participants will be randomly selected to receive additional cognitive assessments
- 640 participants will be randomly selected to participate in the MRI substudy
